Early Life

Nicole Prascovia Elikolani Valiente was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on June 29, 1978. Her father, Alfonso Valiente, is of Filipino descent, and her mother, Rosemary Elikolani Frederick, has Native Hawaiian and Ukrainian roots.

After her parents’ separation, Rosemary married Gary Scherzinger, a German-American who adopted Nicole, leading her to take on the Scherzinger surname. She has a younger sister named Keala.

The family moved to Louisville, Kentucky, when Nicole was six, where her mother worked as a clerk and her stepfather as a welder.

Despite financial challenges, Nicole helped support her family by waitressing, doing local modeling gigs, and performing at Kentucky Kingdom theme park.

Raised Catholic due to her grandfather’s influence, she considered herself conservative with deeply held religious beliefs and attended church frequently to honor her mother.
